Storms in Amethir – Epic Fantasy

Epic fantasy set in an alternate world not drawn from medieval Europe. Growing up in Tornado Alley, I’ve always had an unhealthy fascination with bad weather, and I originally began this series with The Weather War, which features a great deal of inclement weather. As part of a dare, I jumped back in time to write Stormsinger, and then I realized the events that followed would impact The Weather War.

Reading order is:

To get a short story set fifteen years before Stormsinger, sign up for my email newsletter and you’ll get Teeth in Their Song, which features an eighteen-year-old Arama Dzornaea. The Midwinter Royal is a holiday romance set in the same world and falls chronologically thirty years before the events of that series. It can be read either before or after the series, though reading it after does expose the reader to slight spoilers.

Circle City Magic – Urban Fantasy

Urban fantasy set in Indianapolis, Indiana, these books incorporate magic into the real world. One early reader of Shades said, “This whole novel is a love letter to Indianapolis,” and she’s not wrong. For all its flaws, I love my home state, and Indianapolis is a great city to live and work in. Whenever possible, I incorporate real locations and events into my writing.
