Read My Books for Free

One of the hardest things about being an indie author is getting people to read your book.

I know, I’m stating the obvious. But obscurity is a bigger problem for indie authors than piracy. At least if people are pirating your book, you know there must be a demand!

One important factor in getting people to read your book is having lots of book reviews. Not lots of five-star book reviews. Just lots of reviews. I mean, obviously, if you have 50 reviews and they’re all one-star reviews, there’s something wrong! But people are all different, and everyone approaches a book from their own unique perspective. That’s why great authors like J.R.R. Tolkien and Neil Gaiman and Patrick Rothfuss have one-star reviews on their books.

When it comes to books, one size does not fit all.

Why am I bothering to write about this?

Here’s the thing: I need more reviews. A higher number of reviews might not make Amazon show my book to more people, but it does mean that people who see my book on Amazon have more information to help them decide whether or not to buy my book.

So from now until mid-October, I’ve got a special offer just for readers of my blog.

If you review one of my books, I’ll send you another book free.

It doesn’t have to be a five-star review. It doesn’t have to be a positive review at all. I just want you to write a few sentences that are your honest reaction to the story.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You post a review of one of my books on Amazon. Doesn’t matter what book. (You can start with Stormsinger since it’s already free on Amazon.) Doesn’t matter how many stars you give it. Just post your review.
  2. Email me at stephanie@stephaniecainonline.com. Include a link to your review once it’s posted, and tell me which of my books you’d like to receive for free.
  3. I’ll email you the ebook file of your choice.
  4. Repeat as desired. (Except obviously I only have four books, so you can only do this three times.)

Let me emphasize again that this doesn’t have to be a positive or five-star review. I want you to be honest. I’m not going to hold it against you if you don’t like something! Like I said, one size doesn’t fit all. The character I love most might be your least favorite. Or maybe you hate the plot twist. That’s fine—say so in your review. We can still be friends. :)

And you can get a free book out of the deal!
